Developed by credentialed ESL teachers for ESL teachers, this program consists of three versions — beginner, intermediate and advanced – of 20 lessons and a classroom set of USA TODAY newspapers. The lessons teach effective reading strategies that guide students through reading and analyzing the many different informational texts found in the newspaper – from articles, reviews and columns to graphs, charts, the weather map and advertisements. The program’s goal is two-fold: to enhance ESL students’ reading comprehension and higher-order thinking skills and to improve their oral and written communication in English.
