Many laws will be passed or evaluated in 2010. For example, Congress will attempt to pass new health care legislation, and the Supreme Court will weigh in on campaign finance laws. At the state level, California has just made it illegal for restaurants to cook with transfat, and Illinois just passed a law that prevents drivers from sending and receiving text messages or e-mail. Look through USA TODAY for articles that discuss some of the problems the country is facing. What kind of laws might help solve those problems? Then, in small groups, decide on one federal law and one state law that you think should be passed in 2010. Share your decisions with the class.
